This blog is a journal of the work that God is doing in our lives. After being called into a life of service a couple of years ago we’ve been gratefully serving at Taylor University. Now, we are being directed into a different area and we find ourselves on the verge of a journey – a journey to Cyprus.
Cyprus is an island in the Mediterranean Sea, south of Turkey, west of Syria and north of Egypt. It is warm and dry, has mountains and beaches. Recently, Cyprus has become part of the European Union. For more information on the island, click here.
We will be serving with an organization called SAT-7. SAT-7 broadcasts messages of hope into the Middle East and Northern Africa. As an extension of the global church, they seek to provide Christ-centered programming 24 hours a day. Their mission is a blessing to the 20 million believers in this area of the world. They also provide a way for those who are searching to explore without persecution in the privacy of their own homes. My position will be as a Communications Officer. My duties will be to help SAT-7 interact with the western world via video, internet and publications. The tentative timeline for relocating to Cyprus is June 2008 or January 2009 dependant on the raising of support.
Sarah and I feel that God has placed a sense of peace in our hearts about this opportunity. There are a thousand reasons not to leave our current home and lives. We know we will miss our family and friends. We have determined that obedience to God’s will for our lives is more important than personal comfort. He has provided an eternity in heaven for us to spend with our loved ones who believe. This comforts us. For those we love who don’t know the love of Jesus, it breaks our hearts. We so desperately wish for them to know the peace that we have found in the grace of our Lord Jesus. We know that not everyone will understand this but we hope to start a dialogue that will lead to a better understanding.
As we take the next step forward, we will begin to understand the process for raising prayer and financial support. At this point we are asking for you to begin to pray for our family. This will be a significant transition in our lives. We expect some difficulties and many blessings along the way. It will be awesome to see God work out the details. Thank you for being our family and friends. Check back here frequently for updates. We’d love to see a comment from you too!
