Sarah and I are on our way to missionary orientation with CTEN in Kerrville, TX. We are busily studying materials meant to familiarize ourselves with operating as real, live missionaries. This is kind of wild. We received our materials and included there was a certificate that labeled us as official missionaries. Now, I know that God has ordained and called us to serve him but this was a cool moment. I never thought about when one actually gets the title of missionary.
This orientation is the first step of many we will take as missionaries. I think that we feel somewhat ill equipped to perform this role. I know that God will use us and will prove Himself wonderfully sufficient to use us despite our frailties. In order for us to fulfill this calling we will have to rely on Him. That is a thought that is comforting but not one that is comfortable to us yet. We are learning to let go of the dependency on ourselves.
In the very near future, we will begin to contact you to share the vision that God has placed in us for this ministry in Cyprus. We are excited to share this with you. We are longing for your words of encouragement. We covet your prayers. It is wonderful to be part of this community of believers that God has formed to lift each other up and to glorify His name. He has provided just as He has promised. He will continue to supply our needs both physical and spiritual. How awesome to serve a God so powerful and so loving. Please let us know how we can encourage and pray for you. Community is not a one way street and we hope to see you soon.
